APH Based Coverage
Actual Production History (APH) policies insure producers against yield losses due to natural causes such as drought, excessive moisture, hail, wind, frost, insects, and disease.
Revenue Protection policies insure producers against yield losses due to natural causes such as drought, excessive moisture, hail, wind, frost, insects, and disease, and revenue losses caused by a change in the harvest price from the projected price.
Whole Farm Revenue Protection
Whole-Farm Revenue Protection (WFRP) provides a risk management safety net for all commodities on the farm under one insurance policy and is available in all counties nationwide.
Margin Protection is offered as an area based plan that can be purchased as a stand-alone policy or purchased in conjunction with a Yield Protection or Revenue Protection policy.
Yield Protection policies insure producers in the same manner as APH polices, except a projected price is used to determine insurance coverage.
Pasture, Rangeland, Forage (PRF)
Pasture, Rangeland, and forages cover approximately 55 percent of all U.S. land. Forage grows differently in different areas, so it’s important for farmers and ranchers to know which types and techniques work best for their region.
Group Risk Plan
Group Risk Plan (GRP) is designed as a risk management tool to insure against widespread loss of production of the insured crop in a county. GRP policies use a county yield index as the basis for determining a loss.
Area Risk Protection Insurance
Area Risk Protection Insurance (ARPI) is an insurance plan that provides coverage based on the experience of an entire area, generally a county. ARPI replaces the Group Risk Plan (GRP) and the Group Risk Income Protection Plan (GRIP).
The differences between these various supplemental products vary widely, according to crop insurance experts. Consult with your ARM agent to find out which products could offer the most economical, effective supplemental coverage for your farming operation.
